Now I've got a nice 37'x24' space to call my own. Well, almost. My wife came down and promptly informed me of the pool table, entertainment system etc that need to go down here.. So my space shrank to a mere 10'x12'. Bummer. Here's the layout I've agreed to, mostly because the existing shelf-space and workbenches were already there:

For the actual workbench I surfed the web and listened to a lot of people as to what the best approach really is (and cheap).  The consensus:

Obtain from a hardware store, 1 86"x36"x2" solid-core door (flat, pre-finished). Cost: $60. From Canadian Tire, obtain set of steel legs. Cost: $32. Voila: 1 big workbench. I also got some high-density cork that I plan to line it with, so it's easier to pin stuff down. I'm not planning to line the whole surface, just enough to make a work area.

Voila, a nice, sturdy, cheap table, and a much better workspace to do my business. I've ceremoniously positioned my FW190 on it, and to pose for you guys...

Onwards to building...!
